Homework Responses 4/6/09

1.  Why do you take photos?

To capture beauty, memories and pleasure.

2.  What do you take photos of?

My favorite subject is flower macros.  I also enjoy taking photos of landscapes, animals, and places we travel.

3.  Why that subject?

The intricacy of flower macros reminds me that the entire universe is so much more complex than we could ever imagine.  Landscapes make me feel peaceful.  Pics of animals and places we travel help me freeze special moments of time so that I can enjoy them forever.

4.  Come on, what is the real reason?

See number 3 above.

5.  Do you have a theme to your work?

The intricacy of nature.

6.  What kind of photos do you want to take?

Pictures of the minute details of nature which are beautiful by themselves, but when put together create stunning serenity.

7.  How will you achieve that goal?

Look at every part of an object as a subject for a photograph.  The stamens of a flower can make a more interesting photo than the flower itself.  Also, examine a subject from every angle, in different types of light, using different camera features to try to capture the essence of the beauty within the object.

8.  Will you share your photos?

Although I tend to take criticism very personally, I will share my photos with the class in an attempt to receive feedback which will help me become a better photographer.

Some of my favorite pics by other artists

my first set of pics

Obviously, I like flower macros and an occasional landscape.  Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed messing with the computer stuff too.

Digital Photography Class

I am starting this blog to share my work in my digital photography class. Of course, I don't have any photos yet, but I'm assuming we'll eventually get around to taking some pics.
